User Question: Please help me. I entered America through the US-Mexico border. The US Border Patrol deported me and then they sent me to a detention center. I was in the detention center for 15 days. From there, the ICE officer released me on parole. I was released on February 21, 2024. What should I do now? I need advice from experts. Please help me. I came from Bangladesh.

Expert Answer: Since you were released on **parole**, you likely need to file for **asylum (Form I-589)** within **one year** of entry. Check if you have an upcoming court hearing by calling the EOIR hotline (1-800-898-7180) or using the EOIR online case status tool. If you are in removal proceedings, you will have to apply for **defensive asylum** before the immigration court. If not, you can apply for **affirmative asylum** with USCIS. Given your situation, consulting an immigration attorney as soon as possible is highly recommended to avoid missing deadlines and to strengthen your case.
