User Question: I need your help. I have an interview at the court in April. But my lawyer said it’ll be difficult since Trump and the judge might not like my case (LGBT 🏳️‍⚧️ case), so he told me to move my case to another state to buy more time. What should I do? Should I move the case to NYC or keep it in Philadelphia and go to court in April? I’m scared. I’ve been waiting for 6 years. I really need this. But I also don’t want to get denied by the judge. 🥲🥲 Thank you for your help in advance!

Expert Answer: It’s understandable to be concerned, but changing venue just to delay the case can backfire. Venue transfers are not guaranteed and can take months, possibly prolonging your case even more. NYC has a higher asylum approval rate, but each case depends on individual facts and the judge assigned. If your case is strong, you may still win in Philadelphia. If you genuinely fear bias, discuss your concerns with your attorney and consider a second opinion from another immigration lawyer before making a decision.
