User Question: I have done my interview last month after 5 years. I am waiting for my decision. But today the system is showing that my I-765 is approved and we sent a new card to my mail. I already have work authorization that expires in 2027. So I am confused about this action. Does anyone know about this?

Expert Answer: It is possible that USCIS automatically renewed your Employment Authorization Document (EAD) due to the pending asylum case or as a standard update after your interview. Sometimes, after an asylum interview, the system processes an I-765 renewal even if you already have a valid EAD. You should check the category on the new card when you receive it to ensure it matches your current status. If you did not apply for a renewal, it may be a USCIS administrative update. However, this does not necessarily indicate a decision on your asylum case. If unsure, you may contact USCIS for clarification.
