User Question: I have applied my asylum, how I apply for ITIN? I am still waiting for my biometrics and I don’t have EAD or SSN. Thanks.

Expert Answer: You can apply for an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN) by filing IRS Form W-7 along with a valid reason for needing the ITIN, such as filing taxes or being claimed as a dependent. Since you don’t have an EAD or SSN, you will need to provide identification documents, such as a passport. You can submit your application through a Certified Acceptance Agent (CAA) or by mailing the form and documents to the IRS. Keep in mind that ITINs are primarily for tax purposes and do not authorize work in the U.S.
