User Question: Can I get a visa for my child from a third country if I only have Advance Parole?

Expert

Expert Answer: Advance Parole allows you to re-enter the U.S. after traveling abroad, but it does not grant legal immigration status or provide the ability to sponsor a visa for your child. If you are in asylum proceedings or have a pending adjustment of status, you generally cannot petition for a visa until you obtain lawful permanent resident (LPR) status or another qualifying immigration status. You may want to explore humanitarian parole or other legal options for your child’s entry into the U.S.
